Safari nation with mana pools10/2/2023 They are a young couple, 23 & 25 respectively I believe, and whilst I understand this is the first camp they have managed, they came across as nothing but experienced and professional. In all, if you want a great place form which to explore the Mana Pools bush and safe and knowledgable people to guide you: look no further than here!…Ĭall out to Sophie & Antony (Ant'), the camp managers, who were very hospitable and made us feel welcome and engaged, joining us for dinner with our guide and genuinely showing an interest in their guests with some friendly discussion and banter. The staff are supremely flexible and helpful and our stay ran extremely very smoothly. Lunch is one main course and there is a nice afternoon tea. Breakfast is buffet style which we ate outside each morning before heading out for the early morning light opportunities. There is no wi-fi into the rooms but we got reasonable internet connections every day from the main building lounge area. There is plentiful shelf space for clothes and mirrors on both a dressing table in the room and over the wash basins in the en-suite. Power in the rooms was able to take UK plugs. There is plentiful hot and cold water in the attached en-suite along with flushing toilet. The large bed was covered with a mosquito net and there was a turn down service each evening. The rooms are very spacious ( we were in Room 1, which we are told was the same one occupied by Sir David Attenborough when he filmed the Wild Dogs Dynasty programme based in this area). Our guides were simply outstanding and we had great opportunities to work from the vehicles and on foot as the occasions and circumstances allowed. It was an ideal bush location right on the bank of the River Zambezi from which to head out each day. My wife and I stayed here for a week in amongst a group of 7 wildlife photographers. Don't hesitate to book here for an authentic safari experience on Vundu's own concession and in Mana Pools park too.… Great food and comfortable accommodation with excellent camp staff looked after by Sophie and Anthony and wonderful chats with Nick the owner over drinks before dinner. Great encounters on foot with Tusker and Boswell (bull elephants) and a pride of lions coming down to drink were highlights. He instilled confidence with his sympathetic approach, always considering the wildlife first and not risking an unnecessary angry response by those animals we were following on foot. Professional, knowledgeable, friendly and very jolly, always happy and smiling. It achieves this by welcoming you into their family feeling camp and providing expertly guided trips into the bush, In particular the walking, close wildlife encounters make this camp something special. It is an excellent camp that excels in giving you an authentic safari experience. My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights as part of a Zimbabwe safari holiday. A huge thanks to Nick,Sophie, Ant and all the rest of the team for looking after us and making us feel so welcome with a special shout out to our guide Henry- we learned so much from you and your owl calling skills are the stuff of legends!… The food is good especially the home made cakes every day, and a highlight is chatting to everyone over meal times. The accommodation at Vundu is great- spacious and comfortable tents. I’d really wanted to see that so mission accomplished! It’s a really special experience to be able to walk out into the bush with your guide and safely approach the wildlife. We got close up to Boswell the gentle giant bull elephant - I was just mesmerised-and we saw another bull elephant standing on his hind legs to reach higher into the trees (aka the Mana Pools handstand). The light aircraft flight in is all part of the adventure and where else can you see lions just metres from the runway? The wildlife highlights for us were the fantastic bird life, the baby zebras and the amazing elephant encounters. It’s a definite must see on any Zimbabwe itinerary. If time and money permits I’d love to come back and explore the area further. Mana Pools is a spectacularly beautiful area with the pools themselves, the Zambezi river and the escarpments either side. We stayed at Vundu for 4 nights and would highly recommend it.
